About 4 months ago I purchased a Bowflex Xtreme home gym and I have yet to take the Bowflex challenge. It's a great piece of equipment. I just haven't made myself get into the 3-day a week workout routine. Motivation is a big problem sometimes. It is time that I started taking care of myself, after all no one else will. I highly doubt that technology will develop to the point where someone else can workout and burn my calories and fat. At the rate we are going it would be a purely American invention if it were possible. However, the Bowflex is also an American invention. So why not use it instead?

The constant resistance it offers really puts your muscles to the test. It starts out with 210 pounds of resistance. Unless you are a power lifter this should be sufficient for a great workout. As you get stronger they offer the ability to upgrade by 100 or 200 additional pounds. The Bowflex home gym also provides eleven beginner exercises and twelve intermediate exercises. Right now, I am still working mainly in the beginner exercises with increased repetitions while mixing in a few select intermediate exercises. The exercises are numerous - lat pull down, seated bench press, inclined bench press, arm curls, lat row, leg curls, leg extensions, squat, and many more.

The Bowflex Xtreme is a great space saving home gym. With any home gym they will take up space. However, the Xtreme is designed to take up less space. It doesn't provide a traditional bench giving you more space where the length of a bench would normally hog the floor. The only drawback is that the Bowflex Revolution is the newest Bowflex home gym and it does not use the Power Rod system. It has a new system called the SpiraFlex Technology that use elastic coils. Bowflex is still producing home gyms and supporting their Power Rod system, so don't feel like buying a Power Rod system would be a poor consumer choice.

This might sound cliché, you may find the Bowflex expensive but can you really put a price on your health? Imagine what it could cost you later in life if you develop chronic health problems that require costly treatments and medications. Healthcare costs generally go up and rarely come down. Even if you don't think you have the money to spend to take the Bowflex challenge do something to increase your health. Personally, I need to increase the frequency of my workouts.
